Asian Logistics Conference Drives Collaboration and Innovation in Evolving Trade Landscape

The 15th Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference concluded after two days of intensive discussions and networking sessions that attracted over 2,300 participants from more than 40 countries and regions. Organized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the event featured insights from over 80 industry leaders across shipping, aviation, logistics and supply chain sectors through more than 20 thematic sessions and workshops.

The conference theme "Collaboration and Growth in the New Trade Landscape" guided discussions on critical industry challenges including supply chain diversification, sustainability initiatives, and technological innovation. The event facilitated substantial business development, arranging close to 400 business matching meetings and resulting in 11 Memoranda of Understanding signed across aviation, logistics, shipping and technology sectors. Notably, the HKTDC and Greater Bay Airlines Company Limited signed an MoU to deepen collaboration through diverse channels, working together to further Hong Kong's position as a preferred world-class city destination for global trade and tourism.

Industry leaders emphasized the importance of partnerships in navigating current market disruptions. Brian Bourke, Global Chief Commercial Officer of SEKO Logistics, highlighted during the "Steering Business Growth in a New Era of Global Trade" session that "partnerships are critical, if not more so today than ever before. In order to help any organisation navigate through disruption, the focus must be on a resilient supply chain and diversification." Henri Le Gouis, Executive Vice President of Global Freight Forwarding at GEODIS, reinforced this perspective, stating that selecting the right partners becomes essential when facing unexpected challenges.

Sustainability emerged as a central focus, with the "Green Energy Forum: Fuels, Freight, and the Road to Net Zero" exploring how innovative technologies can help implement sustainable strategies and reduce carbon footprints. James Laybourn, Regional Segment Director for APAC at DNV Energy Systems, discussed the complexity of fuel options and the need to prioritize approaches for energy transition. The conference also dedicated significant attention to emerging technologies, including a session on "The Engine of Low-altitude Economy: How Cargo Drones Are Revolutionising the Future of Air Logistics." Bobby Healy, CEO and Founder of Manna Drone Delivery, identified regulatory challenges as a key barrier, while Kenny Lau, Chief Technology Officer of S.F. Express (Hong Kong) Limited, emphasized the need for standardized frameworks and resource sharing in busy airspace regions like Hong Kong.

The exhibition component featured over 90 exhibitors across dedicated zones including aviation, low-altitude economy, supply chain management, and logistics services. A new Low-altitude Economy zone highlighted globally leading low-altitude logistics technology solutions. The conference also included practical workshops such as the "Digital Workshop – Implementing AI in your Supply Chain" delivered by Steve Ng of Reckitt, showcasing multiple use cases and supply chain automation planning processes. The event concluded with the Hong Kong's NextGen Logistician Award Presentation Ceremony 2025, recognizing young talents in innovative, high-end, smart and sustainable logistics, with awards presented to professionals from companies including Hongkong International Terminals, Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited, and Aerovision Technology Limited.
